This drive surprised us! The loop around Lake Tina This drive surprised us! The loop around Lake Tinaroo through Danbulla National Park has so much to see and it’s absolutely stunning.

Take the Danbulla Road and stop in at:

🌳 Cathedral Fig Tree
🌿 Mobo Creek Crater
🦆Lake Euramoo
🔥 The Chimneys
🏕 Fong-On Bay
💧 Kauri Creek

Pack a picnic and make a day of it – there are day use areas, some toilets, and plenty of shady areas along the way. Keep an eye out for wildlife, and note that mobile reception can be patchy.

Most of Danbulla Road is unsealed, but it’s accessible in regular vehicles. The full loop takes about two hours with stops.
And the cost? Just your petrol.
Enjoy!

We walked through lush rainforest, circled stunnin We walked through lush rainforest, circled stunning lake Barrine, and wrapped it up with Devonshire tea (and eggs Benny 🤭) overlooking the water. The breakfast view at the end was picture perfect!

📍Lake Barrine circuit track
🥾Grade 3 – mostly easy, though some uneven surfaces and sections where the leaves can be slippery
⏱️ 5km. It took us just over 1 hour at a fast pace

🌳NB: the two massive trees at the beginning are the magnificent twin Kauris. These ancient trees can be seen via a short walk at the beginning of the circuit (wheelchair accessible).

And the celebrations aren’t over yet! Head back to Herberton on Sunday 19 October for the Peckett Steam Loco’s birthday, with train rides, a steampunk band, and workshop displays 🚂.
