We’re pretty excited to see Far North Queensland o We’re pretty excited to see Far North Queensland on the big screen this August! 🎥🍿 Storm Bird, a feature film shot entirely across Far North Queensland, including the Atherton Tablelands, is being released in cinemas across Australia this week. Directed by local filmmaker James Ivor and co-director Eryk Lenartowicz, the film follows an unlikely friendship that forms over one life-changing weekend in Far North Queensland. 📍 Majestic Theatre, Malanda – Sunday 9 August at 2:30pm 📍 Mareeba Drive-In – Sunday 16 August at 6:45pm A great opportunity to support local filmmaking and celebrate a feature made right here in Far North Queensland. Windin Falls – easily one of the most spectacular Windin Falls – easily one of the most spectacular places on the Atherton Tablelands. The 11.5 km return track begins in World Heritage-listed rainforest, passes through open eucalypt forest, then finishes with a steep descent to sweeping views across Wooroonooran National Park and the valley below. 📍 Windin Falls Walking Track, Wooroonooran National Park 🥾 Grade 4, 11.5 km return ⏱️ Allow 2.5–3 hours walking time, plus time at the falls ⚠️ The final 100 metres are steep, with a short rock scramble beside a sheer drop. Rocks can be slippery, particularly during and after rain, and the official advice is to stay out of the water and away from the cliff edge. 📵 No mobile reception along the track or at the falls 🐶 No dogs allowed A beautiful walk, but one to approach with care. As the sign at the trailhead says: “Do not risk your life for a photo. Live to post your story.” #athertontablelands #cairns #explorefnq #waterfalls #windinfalls

The Torpedo Bay walking track winds through open f The Torpedo Bay walking track winds through open forest before climbing to a series of lookout points overlooking Lake Tinaroo, the dam wall, and the surrounding ranges. It’s a steep, rough walk in places, but the panoramic views are a rewarding payoff – photos don’t do it justice! 📍 Danbulla Road, Atherton Tablelands 🥾 Steep, rough bush track with plenty of loose gravel, so wear shoes with good grip. The trail is also overgrown in parts, and the AllTrails app may be helpful for navigation. ⏱️ Allow around 1.5–2 hours 🐶 No dogs allowed
